I love my work, and I love being a part of this team. At Katapult, we have created a small team with deep experience in construction, development, ownership and brokerage of investment properties.

Katapult Properties was created as a vehicle to assist our clients with the acquisition and disposition of commercial & investment properties.  Our previous experiences help us evaluate the best opportunities for our clients and eliminate many of the risks and pitfalls in order to make transactions smooth.  Geoff and I have been through many transactions as brokers and as principals, so we have the perspective needed to navigate the commercial and residential real estate processes for the best possible outcome. As Broker, I place great emphasis on legal compliance, and as Principal, I take responsibility for the growth and direction of the firm.

In my professional journey, I have held many roles that have prepared me for where I am today. My professional career began in investment banking as Executive Vice President of Duncan-Williams Inc. and Vice President of NBC Capital Markets Group in Memphis, TN.  During this time, I specialized in assisting institutional clients manage their portfolios of Mortgage Backed Securities and Collateralized Mortgage Obligations. In 2005, I started and operated Kaloosa Builders, a construction company which specialized in high performance, energy-efficient and Green Certified construction. This job provided me with amazing opportunities to build the first two NAHB Green Certified homes in Alabama, the Windmill Market in Fairhope (a showcase of sustainable design and construction techniques), and many other unique projects.

In 2011, I made the move to the real estate industry, specifically focusing on net-leased investments and development. Since then, I have facilitated the sales of net-leased properties for several national brands including Walgreens, O’Reilly Auto Parts, McDonald’s, Cricket Wireless, Dollar General, Wells Fargo, Sherwin-Williams, and many others.  These sales have given me valuable insight into the needs of real estate investors and developers.

This combination of experience in investments, construction, and real estate continues to benefit Katapult’s clients.

How do you approach client relationships?

My focus is on service all the way through the process. First, I listen to and understand my client’s objectives in order to best advise them on the possible approaches to achieve their objectives. Second, I market, collaborate, and network to find the appropriate properties or counterparties to their transactions. And finally, I work to coordinate the smoothest contract to closing process that reaches the client’s end goal.

What is your idea of a perfect day?

Basically, any day that includes my wife, Stephanie; our 3 boys: Baxter, Huff, and Samuel; and being active outside makes me happy.  Often, days out of the office are spent on the sidelines of one of the kids sporting events, but we are equally comfortable when we’re miles from nowhere with everything we need strapped to our backs. I love my work, and I love real estate, but when I am not in the office, my perfect day would be mountain biking with the family in the morning, beach in the afternoon, grilling a steak over an open fire and sleeping under the stars.
